SWAN
Founding and Background
Swan is a Paris-based embedded finance startup founded in 2019 by Nicolas Benady (CEO), Mathieu Breton (CTO), and Nicolas Saison (COO) in collaboration with the startup studio eFounders. The company was created to simplify the integration of banking services into digital platforms, eliminating the complex paperwork and regulatory hurdles typically associated with financial services.
Swan provides “embedded banking” solutions, allowing businesses to integrate financial services, such as bank accounts, payments, and cards into their products without obtaining banking licenses themselves. This is particularly useful for software platforms in sectors like accounting, HR, and freelancer management, enabling them to offer seamless banking experiences to their users.
The company crosses 30 European countries, supporting businesses by handling regulatory compliance, Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures, and risk management, allowing companies to focus solely on commercial growth.
Swan has raised a total of €58 million in funding. Notably, in January 2025, the company secured an additional €42 million in its Series B round, led by Eight Roads Ventures, with participation from investors such as Lakestar, Accel, Creandum, Hexa, and BPI France
The company processed over €7billion transactions in 2023 and has continued expanding its operations across Spain, Germany, and other European markets. Its valuation has not been explicitly disclosed, but with strong investor backing and rapid transaction growth, it is positioned as a key player in embedded finance.
